Abstract:

I shall explore how we should reconstruct the interactions of late Neanderthals and early Homo sapiens groups with their wider environments.  What are our physical environmental parameters, and how might these hominin groups have responded to sudden environmental changes?  We also need to be much clearer about the spatio-temporal scales at which landscapes were experienced and exploited.
